Does this sound familiar?

Your mind won't switch off

You replay conversations, brace for the worst and lie awake running through tomorrow. From the outside, you look fine.

You're running on empty

Work, family and everyone else keep taking, and you can't remember the last time you felt rested or like yourself.

Something has shifted

A move, a loss, a new role or the end of a relationship has left you unsure who you are now, and what comes next.

Who I help

Capable, caring adults who are quietly worn down

I work with adults, mostly in their late twenties through fifties, who are good at taking care of things and not so practised at being taken care of. Many of my clients are trying therapy for the first time. Some have tried before and want a different experience.

If you're a parent, a healthcare worker, a teacher, a founder or just the person everyone leans on, you'll probably feel at home here.

How I work

Sessions are conversations, not lectures

You set the pace and the goals. I'll ask questions, notice patterns and sometimes offer a tool to try between sessions. If something isn't helping, we change it.

I draw mainly on two approaches. Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) looks at how thoughts, feelings and habits feed each other, and how to interrupt the loops that keep you stuck. Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) helps you act on what matters to you even when anxiety is loud. Underneath both is a simple idea: you're the expert on your life, and my job is to help you see it more clearly.

Collaborative

We decide together what to work on and check in regularly about whether it's helping.

Practical

You'll leave most sessions with something concrete to notice or try.

Warm but honest

I'll be kind, and I'll also say the thing that needs saying.

What to expect

Getting started is simple

  1. A free 15-minute call. You tell me a little about what's going on, I explain how I work, and we both decide whether it feels like a fit.
  2. A first session. Sixty minutes to go deeper into your story, what you'd like to change and what's gotten in the way before.
  3. Ongoing sessions. Usually weekly or every other week, for fifty minutes. We'll review how things are going every few weeks.

Fees at a glance

Sessions are $150 for fifty minutes. I'm an out-of-network provider and can give you a monthly superbill to submit to your insurance. A few reduced-fee spots are held for clients with financial need.

Meet Jordan

Hi, I'm Jordan Ellis, LCSW

I'm a licensed clinical social worker who has spent the last decade working with adults in community mental health, a university counseling center and now private practice. I started Cedar Hollow because I kept meeting people who had been holding everything together for years and had never once been asked how they were doing.

A note on testimonials

You won't find client reviews or testimonials on this site. Counseling ethics codes discourage therapists from asking clients for them, because of the power difference in the relationship and because your privacy matters more than my marketing. If you want to know what working together is like, the free consultation is the best way to find out.
